Camouflage

There was a beginning.

Crowned in my mother’s blood,

Into open arms –

The birth of a new love.

Found in each other, a mirror.

She gave me who I am

Cradled in the soft

With no-one else above.

There was a wall.

Pitched one side against another,

You sat on the other

Never letting us break through.

Tell me, would it have made a difference

If I had arrived bathed in your blood?

I heard you wouldn’t reject me

If I smelled like you.
