Cast Away.

I try

Not to blame the sky

Whose words were small enough,

To slip through your pores

And sink like hooks.

The warning signs were there,

When kisses began

To taste like air

And your head twisted up

To hear secrets

That you wouldn’t share.

I tried to talk you down

But my words were too tethered to me

To reach.

And as soon as she taught you to fly,

All you needed to hear was

Goodbye.
